Richmond shoegaze veterans Keep have unveiled ‘Hurt a Fly,’ the final track from their upcoming album Almost Static, arriving May 30 via self-release.

Accompanied by a new video, ‘Hurt a Fly’ reflects the introspective spirit that defines much of Keep’s work. Built on layers of ethereal guitar and dense, foggy textures, the track serves as a moment of quiet resolution. It’s a meditation on growth, self-forgiveness, and the long road from adolescence to adulthood — fitting for a band now more than a decade into their journey. As the closing track to Almost Static, the song underscores the record’s themes of reflection and movement, pairing emotional vulnerability with atmospheric weight.

The band explains:

“‘Hurt a Fly’ is my attempt to reflect on the person I was when we first started Keep. It’s pretty surreal to begin something when you’re 17 years old and to still be doing it over ten years later. I was very hard on myself when I was younger and I think I made a lot of things worse than they needed to be. While it was definitely warranted at times, I think a lot of my struggle could have been avoided if I had known how to deal with my feelings in a productive way. I guess in summation, the song is about learning to give yourself grace every so often.”

‘Hurt a Fly’ is out now.
