Katy Perry's space-inspired 'Lifetimes' tour gets mixed reviews from fans

Katy Perry’s performance was from a whole ‘nother world.

The singer, 40, kicked off her “Lifetimes” tour in Mexico City, keeping the futuristic theme going all night as she performed songs off her new album “143.”

Perry rocked a metallic bodysuit and flew around the arena while attached to a rig. At one point, Perry took a picture with her backup dancers, who were dressed in NASA uniforms, before addressing the audience and asking them, “Has anyone ever called your dreams crazy?”

Much like when she took her all-female Blue Origin mission to space, people took to social media to roast the artist.

One social media account wrote on X, “Katy Perry’s ‘Lifetimes’ tour choreography really is something to behold,” while a second chimed in, “Every single video I am seeing from this Katy Perry tour is literally so cringe. Lmfao.”

“Maybe instead of going to space she should have been rehearsing her fight scene moves a little more,” a third fan wrote.

Rounding out the confused responses, someone said, “The more videos I see of Katy Perry’s tour, the more she pisses me off. Like I’m actually offended by how messy it is.”

Other social media users took issue with the fact she performed her tune “A Woman’s World” with no female dancers.

“The fact that Katy Perry has zero female dancers on stage during her performance of ‘Woman’s World’ on her #lifetimestour says a lot about her and the type of feminism she claims to represent,” a fan shared on X. “It seems there is a disconnect between the message of female empowerment in the song and the lack of women visibly featured as part of the performance.”

They added, “This choice by Perry raises questions about the authenticity and depth of her feminist advocacy, if she is not actively uplifting and centering women in her own concert production. The absence of female dancers speaks volumes and undermines the purported feminist themes of the song and her brand.”

But many Perry supporters enjoyed her concert, with one noting, “She’s an icon. She’s a legend. And she’s rising again.”

A second fan shouted out the Grammy nominee, writing, “Best tour of the year already. They were STUNNING.”

Perry’s tour comes on the heels of her flying to space earlier this month as part of Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin crew — which included Lauren Sánchez and Gayle King.

The star’s tourism mission also included astronaut and bioastronautics research scientist Amanda Nguyen, NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe and filmmaker Kerianne Flynn.

The mission, however, came under fire by many celebrities who felt the 11-minute trip was a waste.

Olivia Munn called the misson “gluttonous.”

“What are they doing?” the actress, 44, said on “Today With Jenna & Friends” on April 3.

“I know this probably isn’t the cool thing to say, but there are so many other things that are so important in the world right now.”

“I know this is probably obnoxious,” Munn added, “but like, it’s so much money to go to space, and there’s a lot of people who can’t even afford eggs.”
