Kanye West accuses Kai Cenat of ripping off prison stream idea from Donda broadcast

Kanye West has claimed that Twitch star Kai Cenat stole the idea for his famous prison stream from his bizarre 24-hour broadcast promoting his 2021 album, Donda.

In 2023, famous Twitch streamer Kai Cenat broadcast himself, his friends and several high-profile celebrities ‘in jail’ for seven days straight.

Cameras were rolling 24/7, capturing candid moments from cast members like rappers Offset and NLE Choppa, as well as rising star comedian Druski and Chrisean Rock.

The experiment went viral as one of Twitch’s most iconic marathon streams to date… but one big name in the music biz says the idea was actually stolen from him.

Kanye West says Kai Cenat stole idea for prison stream from him

In April 2025, American rapper Kanye West accused Cenat of “taking his swag” by ripping off his previous broadcast from 2021, where he streamed himself for 24 hours straight as part of a promotional campaign for his album ‘Donda.’

In the stream, Kanye lived at the Mercedes-Benz Studio in Atlanta, Georgia, showing himself working on the album, sleeping and inviting friends and colleagues to kick it with him.

According to Ye, he was the progenitor of experimental 24-hour streams, as told in a short clip from an April 2025 live stream going viral online.

“I invented the streaming sh*t with Donda,” Ye said. “This **** gon’ tell me, ‘Oh, Kai Cenat had ***** in the prison.’ …I was like, ‘That was my whole sh*t!’ Sleeping in the Stadium, **** is taking the whole swag and running with it.”

“That’s one thing that old **** be doing, though. **** will pull up and want you to remember some sh*t. That’s how ***s get shot and sh*t. ‘Man, you remember?’ ‘No.’ Bang! You outta here.”

Ye’s bizarre rant was met with mixed reactions, with some viewers arguing that the rapper was being “petty,” while others agreed that Kai wasn’t a streamer who comes up with “original” ideas.

“Babe, it’s not that deep. Kai’s doing his own thing. Kanye needs to chill before he starts claiming he invented the internet next,” one joked.

“Like dude is rich what’s up with all this clout chasing, so this dude just wants to be the best at everything forever,” another said.

“Yeah Kanye is influential, but nobody thought of Kanye when they watched that sh*t,” yet another argued.

This is just the latest viral moment to come from Kanye West after the music artist crashed out and ended a Twitch stream when viewers started complaining about the quality of the camera.
