Ahead of the forthcoming release of his third studio album 2000, Joey Badass returns with his latest single “Where I Belong.” Joey also shared the song’s music video.
Produced by Statik Selektah, the track finds Joey vulnerable, as he raps about trying to keep it together amid a life of fame and success.
“Tryna get my thoughts together/I say a prayer every day, hopin’ it all get better/I talk to God a lot, these verses is like open letters/I know that nothin’ really last forever,” he spits on the closing verse.
“Where I Belong” follows the previously released “The Rev3nge” and “Head High.” It’s unclear if the songs will appear on his upcoming album. Initially scheduled to drop on June 17, 2000 was pushed back over sample clearing issues, with Joey announcing this week that he would reveal its new release date on Friday.
Speaking with Vibe during the BET Awards last weekend, the Brooklyn rapper opened up about what fans can expect when listening to his next full-length offering.
“On the new album 2000, what should be expected is that classic Joey sound, you know what I’m saying? That authentic Joey. Everything that you want out of Joey Badass, you’re going to get from this project right here. I’m excited for this,” he said.
