Joe Keery joins Kyle Meredith to talk about the recent viral success of Djo’s “End of Beginning,” which was originally included on his 2022 album Decide. Listen to the new episode above, or wherever you get your podcasts.
The actor/musician looks back on the success of the song on TikTok, how much he’s grown in the two years since the track’s release, and how such reminiscing suits the song’s themes. Nodding to the Annie Lennox classic “No More I Love You’s,” the song plays with ideas of the past — so, of course, it only took off once it was in the rearview mirror.
Keery and Meredith also take a detour to chat about his work as an actor, from Marmalade to Fargo to Stranger Things. Of his iconic role in the latter, Keery expresses both gratitude and an excitement to move on to newer (perhaps even stranger) things.
“I’ve been given this amazing gift of Stranger Things, and it has been a real joy of my life to work on that show. As it’s kind of coming to an end now, it’s my job to rediscover who I am now after that and try to push myself to do different things,” he explains. “That’s the challenge moving forward, is just pushing outward.”
