Last year, Joe James released no fewer than four—yes, four—projects and, even more impressively, they were all really damn good, earning him positions on quite a few end-of-year lists in one way or another. But if you thought he was about to take a breather, think again because he’s just released yet another project: 3.
The Essex rapper has already followed it up with two new videos. The first is a fireside visual for the sparsely-arranged opening track, “Forgot The Crackers”, a sub-two-minute joint produced by Pearly Whites label founder Lemzly Dale. “Hell Of A Drug”, meanwhile, sees Joe on a POV bike ride through the city streets at night while he gives us a stream-of-consciousness run through everything that’s weighing on his mind.
One of his more meditative releases, the new EP digs deep into his life’s journey so far. With a few more years of experience under his belt, he reevaluates past relationships and one or two dicey decisions (not just his own) that he’s made along the way. It’s also an opportunity for him to mull over his own thoughts on UK rap and the wider world, peppering in a few sage words of wisdom for us to consider.
