Jaxsta has announced it has signed a commercial data access agreement with DistroKid.
Jaxsta is the world’s largest database of deep-linked official music credits. DistroKid is the leading distributor of independent music, which represents 30-40% of new music in the world. As a result of this new agreement, DistroKid’s two million members can have their credits included in Jaxsta’s comprehensive database of more than 240+ million music credits from more than 15+ million creatives.
In addition to consolidating Jaxsta’s position as the world’s go-to source of official music credit information, the partnership will open Jaxsta’s data-led music industry insights to millions of additional music creatives. As a result, these creatives – including artists, producers, engineers, songwriters, and more – will be able to claim and customize their Jaxsta profile.
Creatives can use their Jaxsta profile as a one-stop resumé that helps create career opportunities. They can also update their profile to create an embeddable One Sheet and access features like Chart Alerts and Credit Alerts from the world’s top 20 music markets across the globe. Creatives can also claim Neighboring Rights through their Jaxsta membership.
DistroKid distributes 30-40% of all new music in the world to online stores and streaming services. It collects all earnings and payments on behalf of its artists and sends 100% of the earnings, minus banking fees and taxes, to the artists.
“We’re thrilled to have DistroKid and the huge community of creatives they represent join Jaxsta,” Beth Appleton, Jaxsta’s Chief Executive Officer told Digital Music News. “Jaxsta is here to ensure that all talent gets noticed and has the tools to shine in a very competitive landscape. DistroKid are a fantastic partner and we know that together we will enable the DistroKid community they represent. We welcome all to become Creator members so they can be found and grow their careers via Jaxsta’s incredible data-led insights and industry-leading features.”
Jaxsta’s database features more than 240 million official music credits across 67 million pages. This data is sourced from more than 295 partners, including record labels, publishers, and industry associations. Jaxsta’s data is mapped to the world’s charts and can provide insights, including custom repertoire reports. The company is aiming to solve the music industry’s metadata problem once and for all.
