Jamie xx is back with a new standalone single, “Dream Night.”
The new song follows Jamie xx’s 2024 return LP, In Waves, his second album and first since 2015’s beloved In Colour. The songwriter, producer, and DJ has been performing “Dream Night” throughout his summer festival tour, with the song being featured during his sets at Lightning in a Bottle, Primavera Sound, LIDO festival, and Glastonbury.
With slow-burning dynamics and a wistful vocal sample at the core, “Dream Night” feels like an extension of the throbbing tenor found in In Waves. The song’s syncopated synths start to bloom around the midway point, with a brief reprieve in the bridge giving way to another thumping, climactic refrain. Listen to “Dream Night” below.
“’Dream Night’ is a tune I made while touring In Waves this year,” explained Jamie xx in a press release. “I am so lucky to have many wild and beautiful nights playing around the world to wonderful people and this song came about quite naturally, out of all the amazing nights of music and dancing that I get to experience on and off stage. I’m so grateful for it all and I wanted to share that and hopefully create some more dreamy moments with this song. Thank you!”
