There may not have been a white dress, but there was a Jack White.
The White Stripes frontman proposed to and married his girlfriend Olivia Jean on stage at his Detroit concert Friday night.
Concertgoers may not have expected a wedding when they bought tickets to a White show, but they were certainly presented with one after a performance of “Hotel Yorba,” when Jack popped the question and married Jean at the Masonic Temple in the couple’s hometown of Detroit. A rep for White told People that “the marriage is legal and valid.”
“’Let’s get married in a big cathedral by a priest.’ 04.08.22,” White captioned an Instagram photo with song lyrics after the performance.
Before it all went down, Jack asked the crowd, “It’s been such a great day, mind if we get married right now?” Then, Third Man Record’s co-founder Ben Swank officiated the wedding, who dropped the classic Prince line “Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called life.”
White was previously married to White Stripes bandmate Meg White until 2000, and was married to model Karen Elson, with whom he shares two children, from 2005 to 2013.
