This grandma wants everyone to know that Harry Styles is a “Sweet Creature.”
Reina Lafantaisie is recognized on the internet as Styles’ oldest and biggest superfan at the age of 78 — and the two have a one-of-a-kind connection.
The Ontario, Canada resident has been a fan of the 29-year-old singer since he first auditioned for the X factor in 2010, and now she spends her time supporting him in his solo career, attending her first concert in January 2023.
The grandma reminisced on the excitement she felt when her granddaughter Renee told her she got tickets to the Los Angeles show for Styles’ “Love on Tour.”
“I wanted to see him so bad, that nothing was going to stop me,” she told NeedToKnow.co.uk.
Reina and Renee dressed up with pink feather boas for the concert — an accessory that became a staple for the tour — and Reina admitted she felt like a teenager again and her heart was beating out of her chest.
“I love concerts, I’ve seen a lot in my lifetime, such as Elvis and Rod Stewart — but he’s better than them put together in my opinion,” Reina said.
Renee, 38, posted a video to TikTok in December 2022 of the grandmother-of-five obsessing over Styles and claiming he’s the “best entertainer” since Elvis Presley — which has since gone viral and now has 413,400 views and 67,200 likes.
“Don’t keep correcting me, I’m talking about Harry Styles,” Reina told her family in the video.
Shortly after the video went viral, the production team for the Grammy Awards got wind of it and invited Reina to present Styles with the award for Album of the Year for his album “Harry’s House.”
“I was so worried about messing up and reading the wrong name, but as I announced he had won, the room erupted in cheers,” Reina shared. “As he ran on the stage, he gave me a massive hug and it was so genuine.”
When she found out Harry’s team wanted her to go to the awards show as his superfan, she was “shocked” and “couldn’t believe my luck.”
On the day of the show, she handed the producers a card she had written for the “As It Was” singer, assuming he would never see it or even know who she was.
But during the awards ceremony, a video of superfans of artists who were nominated for Album of the Year sharing why their favorite artist should win played on the big screen — and Reina was proven wrong.
After Styles accepted the award for Best Pop Vocal Album for “Harry’s House,” he made his way over to his oldest superfan and gave her a handshake and a little peck on the cheek.
“I couldn’t believe my idol had recognized me, it felt like I was dreaming,” she shared — though that wasn’t their only sweet interaction that night.
“During an ad break, I got up for the bathroom and I was standing in line when I saw Harry again – and to my shock, he made a beeline for me,” Reina said. “I couldn’t believe how humble he was as he thanked me for, in his words, my beautiful card.”
The generosity didn’t end there. When she arrived back at her hotel room, Reina was met with a basket full of merchandise from Styles and his team.
“I listen to his music all day long, as his songs put me in such a great mood and his lyrics say everything you need to know about him,” Reina said
“He oozes love and kindness and is such an overall good person who radiates loving energy — our world needs more people like Harry Styles.”
Reina listens to his albums first thing in the morning, has attended multiple concerts around the world, presented him with a Grammy and has had special backstage meet-ups with the singer — lamenting her as an icon among Styles’ fans, known as Harries, who have dubbed her “Leader of the Harries.”
She says that the support from Harries and from Styles himself has added 20 years to her life.
Most recently, she attended his “Love on Tour” show in Coventry on May 22 and 23, and was invited backstage to meet him — and he serenaded her with Peaches and Herb’s “Reunited and it Feels So Good.”
“It was so surreal and his smile lit up the room entirely. He makes the world a better place with his ‘be kind’ attitude toward people and he’s a gem of a man – so humble, kind and caring,” Reina gushed. “He gives me hope.”
