Husband Divorces Wife Kissing Romeo Santos At Aventura Concert

At a recent Aventura concert in the Dominican Republic, one woman fulfilled her dream of kissing singer Romeo Santos… but it came at the cost of her marriage.

In videos of the viral moment, the fan — named Miriam Cruz — can be seen hopping onto the stage and greeting each member of the bachata group, giving an extended kiss to Santos. The crowd responded with applause, and Cruz sat beside her celebrity crush with her hand on his lap for a bit, as the band performed their song “La Guerra.”

Cruz’s husband of 10 years wasn’t present at the concert, but evidently, footage of the kiss made its way to him soon enough, and the couple has since separated. In a now-deleted social media statement, Cruz wrote, “I have to acknowledge that this achievement came at a very high cost: the breakup of my 10-year marriage.”

Various social media posts allege that Cruz and her husband had other tensions in their marriage, and the kiss with Santos was merely what triggered the end. Cruz herself explained that she “got carried away by nerves and emotion, without considering how this could affect my family” and now feels “overcome with deep sadness,” but respects her now-ex-partner’s decision.

On the upside, she feels “happy” for “having achieved this long-awaited dream, one that I imagined for years.” Describing her fondness for Santos, she wrote, “For me, it’s not just about admiring the artist, but also about valuing the great human being that he is. I have followed and admired him for a long time.”

Meanwhile, Aventura will play two more shows in the Dominican Republic this month, followed by a date in Spain. This month also marks the 10-year anniversary of when Drake sang in Spanish with Santos on the single, “Odio.”
