It’s time to welcome the first big gift of the holiday season with the arrival of Spotify Wrapped 2024. The annual recap, looking back at the most-listened artists, albums, and genres for individuals and global Spotify users as a whole, has officially arrived.
As with previous years, Spotify has curated a distinct aesthetic to mark the 2024 rollout, featuring eye-catching visuals and a number of new features. They’ve also taken the celebration out of the app and into the world; people in West Hollywood can dance down to a pop-up celebrating the Pink Pony Club, while those in New York might be able to spot a Tinashe billboard celebrating the borough that streamed her hit “Nasty” more than any other.
In a year dominated by BRAT – our Top Album of 2024, no less — Spotify also went out of its way to shoutout the listeners who had Charli XCX in their playlists long before the advent of Brat Summer.
Read on for details about Spotify Wrapped 2024, including additional unique details and this year’s most-streamed artists, albums, and songs.
When Does Spotify Wrapped Come Out?
Spotify Wrapped 2024 is available as of today, December 4th. It’s slightly later than previous years — 2023’s wrapped landed on November 29th, while the 2022 installment of the annual recap arrived on November 30th.
What’s New in Spotify Wrapped 2024?
One of the features unique to Spotify Wrapped 2024 is the Music Evolution section, which displays how tastes and moods have shifted throughout the year by breaking the past 12 months into a maximum three distinct phases. This is accompanied by a playlist of its own.
In addition to the classic Top Listener feature, which shows the percentile users fall in for their most-listened artists, listeners will also get to see when exactly their longest listening streak for the artist occurred.
Spotify Wrapped 2024 also offers more AI than ever before; while historically the recap has matched these aggregated insights with a handful artificially-generated greetings (or, in the case of 2023, random city assignments), Spotify Wrapped 2024 is leaning even further into Artificial Intelligence. Premium users received an AI podcast breaking down their Wrapped, generated by Google’s NotebookLM technology.
Who Are Some of the Big Names In Spotify Wrapped 2024?
For the second year in a row, Taylor Swift is the most-streamed artist globally. For the first time, her Spotify profile will be marked by a badge denoting her as the most-streamed artist in the world. Elsewhere, this year’s Wrapped sees The Weeknd, who claimed the third most-streamed title in 2023, rise to the No. 2 slot.
Taylor Swift also locked the top slot in the list of most-streamed albums with her massive 2024 LP, The Tortured Poets Department. What’s more, Swift had three albums all within the Top 10, as TTPD is joined by 1989 (Taylor’s Version) and Lover.
For the first time ever, the top five most-streamed albums all came from women: TTPD is followed by Billie Eilish’s HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, Sabrina Carpenter’s Short ‘n Sweet, Karol G’s Mañana Será Bonito, and Ariana Grande’s eternal sunshine.
It’s not the only huge accolade for Sabrina Carpenter, whose “Espresso” was the most-streamed song in the world. The runner-up here was Benson Boone, who broke through with his TikTok-friendly track “Beautiful Things.”
Meanwhile, with the integration of audiobooks for premium users this year, Spotify also unveiled its first-ever Global Top Author. Sarah J. Maas, the writer behind the hugely popular A Court of Thorns and Roses and Throne of Glass books, claims the inaugural title.
Additionally, when it comes to podcasts, Joe Rogan earned the most-listened title with The Joe Rogan Experience. He’s followed by Alex Cooper, who continues to pull huge numbers with her podcast Call Her Daddy.
When Does Tracking End for Spotify Wrapped?
While past years included rumors about tracking ending on October 31st, Spotify dispelled that particular rumor this year, promising that 2024 Wrapped would include streaming info past that cutoff. However, the company remains tight-lipped about when exactly the tracking period ended.
