Home Is Where has shared ‘milk & diesel,’ the latest single from their upcoming album Hunting Season, due out May 23rd via Wax Bodega.

‘milk & diesel’ balances a breezy, folk-inspired atmosphere with an undercurrent of emotional heaviness, born from frontwoman Bea MacDonald’s experience watching her grandparents struggle with dementia. The song’s sorrowful core is contrasted by a surreal, black-and-white video directed by Texas Smith, where a southern diner filled with Elvis impersonators and creatures from old monster movies transforms into a dreamlike jam session.

MacDonald says of the song:

“This was inspired by my grandparents both getting diagnosed with dementia at the same time. It’s about how helpless you feel watching someone you love deteriorate.”

Home Is Where will debut their new material live at Washington, DC’s Liberation Weekend Festival on May 30th. ‘milk & diesel’ is out now.
