Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour” is currently underway, and during Friday night’s stop in Nashville, the pop legend brought out a special guest to help sing the tour’s eponymic song: Paramore’s Hayley Williams.

That’s right, commanding the stage of Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena and donned in matching white-with-red-polka-dot outfits, Lauper and Williams brought “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” to life. Throughout the song, Williams — who delivered some masterful vocal runs on her verses — kept her gaze on Lauper, almost as if she was in just as much awe as the audience to hear the 1983 hit in its retrospective glory. The Nashville stop was the latest on Lauper’s ongoing farewell tour. Earlier this week, she performed in New York City with special guest Sam Smith, who joined her for a duet on “Time After Time.” Up next, the tour has stops in Atlanta, Phoenix, San Francisco, and more cities, before the US leg wraps in early December. Next year, she’ll hit the road again for a European leg. Get tickets to her upcoming shows here.

As for Williams, this wasn’t the first time she’s performed “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” at Bridgestone Arena. She previously performed a cover of the song with Kacey Musgraves there in 2019.

In other news, Williams recently paid tribute to another female pop icon from the late 20th century, Debbie Harry, by dressing up like her for Paramore’s set at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.
