Zebra, the long-running New Orleans hard rock trio, have announced a 50th anniversary US tour.
Following a previously announced spring run, the newly unveiled tour dates kick off June 26th in Fairfield, Connecticut, with headlining shows scattered throughout the year up through a homecoming gig on November 26th at the Orpheum Theatre in New Orleans.
General ticket sales for select shows start Friday (March 14th) at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster, while other cities are available via ticket links on the band’s official website.
Zebra are notably one of the longest-running rock trios to have maintained a consistent and active lineup, with singer-guitarist Randy Jackson, bassist-keyboardist Felix Hanemann, and drummer Guy Gelso having performed together every year for five decades now.
While Zebra have somewhat flown under the radar since forming in 1975, the trio has achieved cult-legend status in hard rock/AOR and prog circles on the strength of three Atlantic-released albums in the 1980s: Zebra (1983), No Tellin’ Lies (1984), and 3.V (1986). Zebra also released a live album on Atlantic in 1990 and a late-career studio LP, IV, in 2003.
A press release also notes that the band is working with renowned producer Jack Douglas (John Lennon, Cheap Trick, New York Dolls) on a new album set for release later this year.
