Gulp returns with their latest single ‘Wildflower,’ an airy, synth-groove journey that continues to build anticipation for their upcoming third album Beneath Strawberry Moons, out August 29 via ELK Records.
Marking a new chapter for the band after a seven-year hiatus, ‘Wildflower’ radiates warmth and emotional clarity. The track threads calypso-tinged synths, pastel-hued melodies, and steady beach club basslines to explore themes of growth, awe, and connection. It carries the sonic DNA of Gulp’s electro-pop roots while evoking the introspective shimmer of acts like Goldfrapp and Saint Etienne. The result is a track that feels expansive yet deeply personal, soundtracking moments of stillness, reflection, and childlike freedom.
Leven says of the song:
“The wide sky where we live can be awe-inspiring at times. This song is about growth, with a nod to motherhood and our own little wildflower. Tiny, yet somehow reaching the infinite sky.”
The single arrives alongside a hand-painted animated video created by artist Eilidh Nicoll. Inspired by the song’s lyrics and Leven’s own woodblock print album artwork, the visuals further immerse listeners in Gulp’s ethereal world. ‘Wildflower’ follows the hush-released ‘Always So Far’ and ‘Hope Shines Through The Haar,’ rounding out a trio of tracks leading into Beneath Strawberry Moons.
The band will support the album with four UK live dates this September, featuring a newly expanded five-piece lineup including Belle and Sebastian’s Chris Geddes. Gulp will perform in Glasgow, Dunfermline, Bethesda, and Todmorden.
