It’s been a long, quiet year for fans of GRiZ, but those attending Burning Man will see that his creative flame has far from extinguished.
Beloved for his funk-infused dubstep and high-energy live shows, GRiZ in June 2023 announced an indefinite hiatus from music, citing a desire to travel and spend more time with loved ones.
“Life is really good, and often I make myself too busy to see just where I am and how far the project has come,” he said at the time. “I’m following my gut instincts so for now, I’m not going to put a hard time limit length on the break… I’m excited to take time to travel, find fresh inspiration, write music and to be in a new headspace.”
But the hush has been suddenly, dramatically shattered with the news that GRiZ will be gracing the hallowed grounds of Burning Man’s beloved Camp Questionmark this year. It’s a big moment for the Rainbow Brain producer, who has remained steadfastly out of the public eye since announcing his hiatus.
The lineup revealed this week via Camp Questionmark’s Instagram page in a post that has since been deleted, but not before the sleuths at GRiZ’s official subreddit captured a screenshot. According to the flier, which you can view below, GRiZ is scheduled to appear on Friday, August 30th as part of a slate that also features Diplo and Louis The Child. Other notable artists to perform throughout the week include What So Not, Maddy O’Neal, Equanimous and FLY.
Camp Questionmark’s official website now features a countdown that’s scheduled to end on the afternoon of Sunday, August 25th.
