Grammys 2025 Will “Proceed As Planned” Despite LA Wildfires

Grammys 2025 Will "Proceed As Planned" Despite LA Wildfires

The 2025 Grammy Awards are still set to take place on Sunday, February 2nd in Los Angeles, despite the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires that have killed at least 24 people and destroyed thousands of structures.

Over the weekend, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the Recording Academy was discussing the possibility of postponing the Grammys due to the wildfires. However, in a statement released on Monday, the Record Academy said the Grammys “will proceed as planned.”

“This year’s show, however, will carry a renewed sense of purpose: raising additional funds to support wildfire relief efforts and honoring the bravery and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect ours,” said Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. and MusiCares CEO Tammy Hurt in a joint statement.

“In challenging times, music has the power to heal, comfort, and unite like nothing else,” Mason and Hurt added. “The Grammys will not only honor the artistry and achievements of our music community but also serve as a platform to amplify the spirit of resilience that defines this great city of Los Angeles.”

Last week, the Recording Academy and its charity foundation, MusiCares, pledged an initial $1 million to support artists and music industry professionals affected by the wildfires. MusiCares is also providing a range of immediate and long-term services, including $1,500 in financial assistance, $500 grocery cards, and support for replacing lost or damaged instruments. Those in need of such assistance can find more information here.

Here at Consequence, we’ve launched a special “All for LA” edition of our Protect Live Music t-shirts, where 100% of proceeds will go to MusiCares’ Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort. Find additional ways to support and donate here.
