Ghost Announce Feature Film Rite Here Rite Now

Ghost have announced a feature film titled Rite Here Rite Now, which is set for a worldwide theatrical release on June 20th and 22nd.

The Swedish band teased the film earlier this month, but with no details at the time. A new press release describes the movie as a pseudo narrative-concert film that “fully immerses viewers in the technicolor melodrama of the vaunted live ritual” that is Ghost. Directed by Alex Ross Perry (Her Smell) and Ghost mastermind Tobias Forge, it culls footage from the band’s two sold-out shows at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles in 2023 and follows plot threads from Ghost’s long-running Chapters series.

“Over a decade ago when Ghost got signed to Loma Vista, Tom Whalley [owner and CEO] asked what the story of the band was,” revealed Forge in a press release. “He felt telling a story was vital in order to get new fans engaged. I said that because we were a new ‘baby’ band and more importantly we were an ANONYMOUS baby band, there wasn’t really a compelling story to tell. Not yet anyway. But I told him that if he wanted a story, I could come up with one. This film is the fruit of that conversation.”

Trafalgar Releasing, which previously worked with Metallica, will be handling the cinematic distribution for Rite Here Rite Now. A full trailer and tickets will be available next Thursday (May 9th), with worldwide screening details and ticket links being revealed at 9 a.m. ET that day via the film’s website.

“Collaborating with Tobias to expand the saga of Ghost into a feature film has been a wicked delight,” remarked co-director Alex Ross Perry in a press release. “This movie allowed us to be inspired by everything from silent horror to The Great Rock n’ Roll Swindle, from Ralph Bakshi to KISS Alive II. The influences were many, but above all, the ultimate goal was to make a one-of-a-kind feast not only for Ghost fans, but all lovers of the cinematic alchemy between rock spectacle and spooky delights.”
