G Herbo was forced to call off a show in his hometown of Chicago on Friday due to travel-related reasons.
As seen in social media-shared footage, including the below rip from The Shade Room, the 25 artist apologized to fans for the last-minute scrapping of the performance via a video statement played for attendees.
“I was excited to come back home. … I’m in the airport,” he said. “I’ve been at the airport for, like, six hours. They kept delaying the flight.” According to Herbo, his travel plans kept getting pushed back due to weather, resulting in an extended annoyance that left him feeling drained.
“Man, basically, I just want to send an apology to my fans,” he added. “As y’all can see, I’m exhausted right now. I don’t even have energy. I been dealing with this shit all day.” See more below.
The show, formally billed as Yungfly Entertainment presents G Herbo and Ann Marie, was set to take place at the Chicago Theatre on Friday. Complex has reached out to a venue rep for additional comment. G Herbo and Ann Marie were next scheduled to perform in Houston, Texas on Saturday. Per the official Ticketmaster page, however, that show has also been called off.
Of course, part of being a fan is offering artists the freedom to be human, meaning canceled shows and/or delays are wholly inevitable. Additionally, allowing entitlement to drive one’s fandom isn’t healthy for anyone involved. Still, some fans have expressed frustration over the scrapped Chicago date on social media. Others, meanwhile, have taken a more understanding approach.
Herbo’s aforementioned 25 landed on Complex’s Best Albums of 2021 coverage. The album, Herbo’s fourth, also gave the artist his highest-charting opening week on the Billboard 200 chart.
