Kansas City trio Flooding has returned with a gripping new single, ‘your silence is my favorite song,’ the first release from their upcoming EP object 1, due out this summer.
Anchored by Rose Brown’s eerie, melodic vocals and simmering guitar work, ‘your silence is my favorite song’ delves into the psyche of a self-absorbed male manipulator. With sharp lyrics like “Your bleeding heart, my lucky charm,” the track builds with tension and restraint, moving from minimal instrumentation to a climactic breaking point. It marks a stylistic shift for Flooding, merging their familiar post-hardcore and noise-rock roots with more melody-driven, pop-forward songwriting.
Rose Brown says:
“Flooding can be extremely personal most of the time, but I like to explore the perspective of narcissistic villain archetypes sometimes, too. It’s fun to pretend to be a piece of shit male rock idol for 4 minutes.”
Flooding kicks off their headlining tour tonight in Los Angeles at El Cid with Starling, before heading to Phoenix, Austin, and Denton for additional shows.
‘your silence is my favorite song’ is out now.
