Far Caspian shares intimate new single ‘Autofiction’ ahead of forthcoming album

‘Autofiction’ is the title track from upcoming LP Autofiction out July 25 via Tiny Library Records.
Irish musician Joel Johnston, the creative force behind Far Caspian, has released ‘Autofiction,’ the tender and melodic title track of his forthcoming album, due out July 25, 2025, on his own Tiny Library Records. The new single is a heartfelt love song dedicated to his partner, who also lends ethereal vocals to the track, highlighting the deeply personal nature of the project.
Built on soft hooks and shimmering textures, ‘Autofiction’ showcases Johnston’s growing clarity as both songwriter and producer. The track exemplifies the album’s diaristic style, with lyrics centered on themes of mental health, self-forgiveness, and the solace found in supportive relationships. It follows the earlier singles ‘An Outstretched Hand / Rain From Here To Kerry‘ and ‘First Day.’
The upcoming Autofiction album marks a turning point for Johnston, who nearly walked away from Far Caspian altogether before regaining his creative spark. Refreshed by new studio experiences, Johnston returned to old demos with a producer’s mindset rather than a songwriter’s burden. The result is a self-contained body of work recorded, produced, mixed, mastered, and performed entirely by Johnston in his Leeds-based studio. With sonic influences ranging from Broken Social Scene to Supercar, the album promises to be light yet emotionally resonant—anchored by a renewed sense of creative joy.
To support the release of Autofiction, Far Caspian will embark on a fall headline tour across the US, UK, and EU. The North American leg includes stops at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg on October 4 and Los Angeles’ Echoplex on October 17.
