The Eraserheads mix nostalgia with the contemporary as the Philippine rockstar icons bring together star-studded OPM acts in a one-day music festival

Expect to rock all night when the Eraserheads hit the stage once again!

The iconic Pinoy band headlines the Eraserheads: Electric Fun Music Festival that will feature some of OPM’s established stars and returning acts — all curated by the band members themselves for the one-day event on May 31 at the SMDC Festival Grounds in Parañaque City.

The festival was conceptualized by Eraserheads members Ely Buendia, Raymund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala, and Marcus Adoro, before teasing it on the premiere of the Eraserheads: Combo on the Run documentary last March.

Here are things you need to know before the blockbuster music showcase:

Star-studded lineup

Bannering the opening acts for the festival are rock bands The Itchyworms and Moonstar88, along with OPM veterans Basti Artadi, Dong Abay Music Organization, and Imago.

There will also be sets from the new generation of artists, such as Blaster, Carousel Casualties, ALYSON, Party Pace, Pinkmen, and Sa Vie as the event offers a mix of nostalgia, youthful acts, and contemporary hits.

The festival will also see the reunion of 2010’s all-girl rock band General Luna

All of these prelude Eraserheads’ full-blown concert set, their first in the country since their initial 2022 reunion concert.

Exclusive perks

At the festival, SVIP and VIP ticket holders can enjoy an exclusive soundcheck experience and an air-conditioned tent.

The tent, which can accommodate 200 people at a time, 30 minutes per batch, offers concertgoers comfort in the music party held just a few meters away from the Manila Bay.

SVIP can also explore all sections of the festival grounds — the bronze, silver, gold, platinum, and VIP areas.

How to get your tickets

Early bird tickets are available from March 29 to April 16 via the PalawanPay app, where fans can avail of a 5% discount to secure their access early in the festival.

Ticket prices are as follows:

  • SVIP – P12,500
  • VIP  – P10,500
  • Platinum – P8,500
  • Gold – P6,500
  • Silver – P3,500
  • Bronze – P1,500

The band is fresh from its world tour, where they performed across the United States, Canada, Singapore, Dubai, Doha, Australia, and New Zealand.

The festival comes even as a rape allegation surfaced on Reddit last week against guitarist Adoro on top of previous abuse allegations from his ex-girlfriend Barbara Ruaro and daughter Syd Hartha, who has since made a name for herself in the OPM industry.

Adoro, who has remained mum on the new allegations, said in the documentary that he had been trying to resolve past issues.

Eraserheads, formed in 1989, is known for hits “Ang Huling El Bimbo,” “Magasin,” ‘Alapaap,’ and “Spoliarium,” among others, skyrocketing the group’s popularity and turning into one of the country’s most iconic bands.

They disbanded in 2002, even severing friendships, then got back together over a decade later for a reunion concert and a few other gigs.

But during the recent promo of their documentary, Buendia, noting how time and maturity have mended old wounds, said the Eraserheads are “here to stay.” – Rappler.com
