Drake won’t let a joint injury hinder his big weekend.
The Grammy winner took to Instagram on Thursday to confirm he recently received medical attention for a hurt ankle. The post came days before Drake’s long-awaited two-night engagement at Harlem’s Apollo Theater—an event he has postponed twice.
“Thank you Atria NY for the best health care experience I have ever had,” Drake captioned the carousel, which included a photo of his injured foot. “Let’s see what I can do on this piece of shit ankle Saturday.”
The Her Loss rapper will take the Apollo stage on Saturday and Sunday, marking his first-ever performance at the iconic venue. The show was originally set to take place in November, but was pushed back in the wake of Takeoff’s death earlier that month.
Drake went on to reschedule the events for early December, only for them to be postponed once again due to “production delays.”
“We as a team have been working around the clock not just putting together a concert but an experience our fans deserve,” SiriusXM and Sound 42 wrote in a statement. “With that said, we are up against some production delays that are just out of our control…these upcoming shows for SiriusXM are so incredibly special for us. If you are going to play the world-famous Apollo Theater, it has to be a world-class production.”
In other Drake news, the rapper’s OVO imprint announced it added Naomi Sharon to its roster of talent. The R&B singer celebrated the big news with the release of “Another Life” and “Celestial,” both of which were co-produced by Noah “40” Shebib.
“Words cannot express how happy I am I can finally share this news with the world,” Sharon said on Instagram. “And I cannot thank you enough for this insane opportunity.”
