Down will be releasing their highly anticipated new album on Nuclear Blast Records in 2026, announcing a new record deal with the prestigious metal label. The signing also entails reissues of the band’s back catalog.
The NOLA sludge supergroup is currently in the final stages of recording its fourth full-length effort — Down’s first new music in over a decade — with a release planned for 2026, per a press release. The band’s current lineup consists of vocalist Philip H. Anselmo (Pantera), guitarists Pepper Keenan (Corrosion of Conformity) and Kirk Windstein (Crowbar), drummer Jimmy Bower (Eyehategod), and bassist Pat Bruders (Crowbar, Goatwhore).
“It’s good to sign with Nuclear Blast Records,” Anselmo stated in the press release. “It’s a good label home and we’re ready to make some awesome recordings!”

Added Keenan, “Having already been a part of the Nuclear Blast family with Corrosion of Conformity, it is an honor and a privilege to be here as well with my brothers in Down. The team at Nuclear Blast is a well-oiled machine and you can definitely tell they love what they do. We are in the right place.”
The label commented, “Nuclear Blast is proud to be in the trenches with NOLA legends Down as their partner in their long overdue return to the metal world. In addition, we are excited to bring some of their key past catalog releases back into the spotlight, especially on the vinyl side. There are so many longtime Down fans at Nuclear Blast who are excited to be working with one of their all-time favorite bands. 2026 can’t come soon enough!”
Further updates on the album will be provided “in the coming months,” per the press release. Meanwhile, Down have one live date remaining in 2025 at Milwaukee Metal Fest on May 16th (get tickets here), having wrapped up dates with Danzig earlier this year.
Anselmo, meanwhile, is currently on the road with Pantera supporting Metallica on the latest North American leg of the latter’s ongoing “M72 World tour. Pick up tickets here.
