Fans of Disclosure are in for quite a surprise after the duo announced a brand new album, Alchemy, which is scheduled to release in less than 24 hours.
Releasing independently via their own Apollo Records imprint, Alchemy has no guest features or samples. With the feel of a bona fide showcase, it’s a big moment for the influential dance music tandem, who recently parted ways with Capitol Records.
“This record is a celebration of us feeling liberated right now,” said Disclosure’s Guy Lawrence. “We’re no longer signed to a major record label. We’re not going to tour this record. We can do whatever we like and be super creative.”
Alchemy is said to feature an abundance of vocals from Disclosure’s Howard Lawrence and production rooted in “everything from jungle breaks and trance-like supersaw synth riffs to rapid tempo four-to-the-floor club tracks.”
“There was this combination of deep heartbreak and sadness, but also deep admiration and appreciation,” added Howard. “Let’s turn this horrible feeling into something beautiful. The whole idea was to channel pain into beauty, which, in hindsight, is always the aim.”
