Is deadmau5 working on a new project to produce drum & bass music?
The electronic music icon has been showing love for the genre recently, especially in a recent livestreamed mix from his home studio. Now he’s taken to social media to tease an unreleased drum & bass track in a post with the caption, “So do I need another alias for this shit?”
“Petition to drop some dnb,” wrote his record label, mau5trap, in the comment section, pouring gasoline on the hype’s fire. Sure enough, comments of support then flooded in from deadmau5’s fellow music producers and fans alike, including DJ Fresh, S.P.Y and Craze.
With the rising popularity of drum & bass in the U.S., time will tell if global dance music superstars like deadmau5 incorporate the genre into their work as part of a more concerted foray. Chris Goss, the co-founder of the iconic drum & bass imprint Hostpial Records, told us earlier this year that believes we’re experiencing “another explosion” at the moment.
A day after sharing the video, deadmau5 posted another teaser of new drum & bass music, which he produced using an intricate modular synthesizer rig he referred to as an “infernal noise machine.” However, he has not yet confirmed a new alias in the work at the time of writing.
