A DaBaby concert scheduled for this weekend in New Orleans has been canceled due to low ticket sales.
The show was supposed to happen Friday (Sept. 2) at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. The concert promoters say they are working on putting together a replacement show on a new date at a different venue. The ‘beefed up’ roster will likely still include DaBaby, but also additional talent.
Promoters are describing the show as postponed, but the message to buyers on Ticketmaster says, “Unfortunately, the event organizer has had to cancel your event.” In an interview with NOLA.com, organizers Euell Sylvester and Greg Pulver say they’re still working on a replacement.
“We’re working on a future date and possibly additional performers,” Pulver told NOLA.com. When asked why the show was called off, Pulver says, “a number of business reasons were involved for why we saw best to do that. We decided to postpone and that was in our best interest.”
Looking at the Ticketmaster seating guide for the venue, many of the tickets remained unsold even though they were available for as little as $35. The New York Post reports that less than 500 tickets were sold to the show. The venue where the concert was slated to take place can seat up to 14,000.
DaBaby has two remaining tour dates left on his website. They include an October 29 performance in Paris and another performance on November 12 in Houston, Texas. DaBaby was canceled in 2021 when he made some controversial comments to the crowd at Rolling Loud Miami in 2021.
“If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases thaty’ll make you die in two to three weeks, then put your cellphone lighter up. Fellas, if you ain’t sucking d**k in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up,” the rapper chanted at the crowd at the time.
The rapper later doubled down on his statements on Instagram Live, saying he’s a performer. Soon after, DaBaby issued an apology to the LGBTQ+ community, but he was later removed from Lollapalooza, The Governors Ball, and Dua Lipa removed his credit on the “Levitating” remix after a huge fan backlash.
