CRAVITY Seize the Day with New Single Album Now or Never

Welcome back to Fan Chant, a weekly column for K-pop fans, stans, and newbies alike. This week, Wonho makes his Fan Chant debut with a quick interview. If you enjoy what you’re reading, feel free to subscribe to my companion newsletter to get Fan Chant delivered right to your inbox each week!

The members of CRAVITY are known for working hard, and working together. 2024 offered multiple checkpoints rewarding their efforts; Serim, Allen, Jungmo, Woobin, Wonjin, Minhee, Hyeongjun, Taeyoung, and Seongmin were named the winners of competition program Road to Kingdom: Ace of Ace in November. They also appeared in an Apple TV+ program titled K-Pop Idols that peeled back the curtain on the daily lives of Korean pop artists.

Now, the nine-member band is back with Now or Never, a characteristically bright new single album to cap off their major 2024. “I don’t like letting days pass without meaning or purpose,” SERIM notes, explaining that the band locked into their ability to maximize the potential in every day as the jumping-off point for the title track.

Let’s talk about “Now or Never,” which I know you guys have confirmed is about recognizing the importance of living in the moment while also taking on the world around us with confidence. With very busy schedules and so many responsibilities to shoulder, what are some things that fill you guys with confidence? (Other than LUVITY, of course).

SEONGMIN: LUVITY will always be our number one source of confidence — that’s a given. Beyond that, I’d say it’s the members. We spend so much time together, sharing conversations and listening to each other’s thoughts. That mutual support helps us stay strong, no matter what.

JUNGMO: And also, it’s family. Having people who always support and encourage us on this journey gives me consistent confidence.

SERIM, ALLEN, I know you guys worked very closely on this song. Do you have any particularly special days you think about when remembering putting this song together?

SERIM: Rather than a specific day, I think the song reflects my values and mindset. I don’t like letting days pass without meaning or purpose. True to the title “Now or Never,” I wanted to write lyrics that push back against wasting time and embrace the urgency of living fully in the present.

ALLEN: I agree with SERIM. When I saw the title “Now or Never,” I immediately thought of the phrase carpe diem, “seize the day.” I was inspired to incorporate that idea into the lyrics as it perfectly captures the spirit of the song.
