Coheed and Cambria Announce New Album, Unveil Single “Searching for Tomorrow”

Coheed and Cambria have announced a new album titled The Father of Make Believe, set for release on March 14th. The band has also unveiled the new single “Searching for Tomorrow.”

The Father of Make Believe continues the story of the “Amory Wars / Vaxis” universe following the 2022 album Vaxis Act II: A Window of the Waking Mind,

According to a press release, “One way to look at The Father of Make Believe is Coheed and Cambria establishing a desire to move forward while honoring a remarkable history. Another: a series of questions, emotions, and thoughts at war with each other — ‘a war within myself,’ as bandleader, vocalist and lead guitarist Claudio Sanchez puts it.”

The description continues, “Where the set forges new ground is in how Sanchez embraces the role of main character. He’s often used epic songcraft to mask the stories he wanted to tell: reflections on an addicted father, memories of his beloved grandfather, fears about raising a child in a cruel world, anxieties around losing the love of his life.”

“Searching for Tomorrow” is accompanied by an animated music video directed by Anthony Scheppard. The song serves as the second single from the new album, as recent single “Blind Side Sunny” is also included on the 14-song tracklist.

Regarding the single, Sanchez stated, “This song is a reminder that always looking for something better in your life robs you of being able to appreciate the good things you already have.”

A limited-edition box set version of the album, titled Vaxis Act III: The Father of Make Believe, includes the CD and digital download along with Blind Side Sonny’s fully wearable and functional helmet and neuro-dynamic display goggles; a hardcover illustrated novella coffee table book; a neuro-dynamic display goggles app for display customization; an 11.5” x 35” bedroom poster; and a signed Death Certificate of Siv Trafinder.

So far, in 2025, Coheed will be playing Tool’s “Live in the Sand” festival in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, in March; the 2000 Trees Festival in Cheltenham, England, in July; and setting sail on their own SS Neverender cruise from Miami in November.
