Toronto rock duo cleopatrick has returned with ‘HAMMER,’ an intense new single that paves the way for their sophomore album, set for release in 2025.
The single marks a new direction for childhood friends Luke Gruntz and Ian Fraser, who stepped outside their familiar creative process to work with producer Philip Weinrobe in Brooklyn. The collaboration led the band to push their sonic boundaries, exploring heavier themes and refined textures that amplify their signature raw energy. ‘HAMMER’ builds on cleopatrick’s well-established sound, blending fuzzed-out guitar riffs and pounding rhythms with an urgency that feels personal and universal.
Gruntz describes the song’s theme as being about surrender to life’s challenges, saying:
“This song is about getting pummelled by the big guy. Like really just completely flattened out. it’s about the act of not only accepting your beat down but actually welcoming it.”
With ‘HAMMER,’ cleopatrick delivers a taste of what’s to come, showing fans they’re prepared to push their limits and redefine their sound.
