Christopher Owens Returns with “I Think About Heaven”

Singer-songwriter and former Girls frontman Christopher Owens is back with new music for the first time in seven years. Catch his hopeful new single, titled “I Think About Heaven,” below.

Gentle and largely acoustic, “I Think About Heaven” pulls inspiration from Psalm 42, a portion of The Bible centered on moving through difficult times. Owens himself has been no stranger to the subject of harder seasons in life — following the loss of his Girls bandmate, Chet “JR” White, Owens has also worked to recover from a life-threatening motorcycle accident.

“I think about heaven and I smile/ I think about heaven and I break into a big grin,” he sings here. In a statement about the creation of the track, he characterizes the cathartic process of songwriting as his “constant companion.” Prior to this release, Owens’ most recent work was 2017’s Vante, for which he teamed up with Cody Rhodes and Luke Baće under the name Curls.

The single artwork shows Owens standing in front of Wolf’s Lair Castle in Los Angeles, the former home of the late Shelley Duval.
