Five years after teaming up in 2017 on Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, Calvin Harris and Young Thug have joined forces once again for their new collaborative single with Dua Lipa, “Potion.”
Harris and Thugger previously teamed up alongside Ariana Grande and Pharrell on “Heatstroke,” the second single from the producer’s last full-length offering Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1. Lipa also collaborated with Harris on the 2018 one-off single, “One Kiss.”
“Potion” serves as the first single from Harris’ forthcoming sixth studio album, Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2, which is scheduled to arrive later this summer.
“Potion” marks the first material Harris has released in nearly a year, arriving 11 months since he dropped “By Your Side” featuring British singer Tom Grennan. The track also catches Dua Lipa fresh off her recent collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion, “Sweetest Pie.”
Meanwhile, “Potion” is the first offering from Young Thug since he was charged earlier this month with conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.
Young Thug was one of the people listed in a 56-count indictment that was filed on May 9. The indictment also names other rappers that are affiliated with Young Stoner Life Records, including Gunna. The charges in the indictment include murder, armed robbery, and possession of controlled substances and weapons.
