Multi-platinum duo Cafuné—Noah Yoo and Sedona Schat—have unveiled ‘e-Asphyxiation,’ the centerpiece single from their upcoming album Bite Reality, set for release on September 12 via SoundOn.

Sonically bold and emotionally raw, ‘e-Asphyxiation’ explores the dehumanizing effects of life lived online. A guitar-driven electro-pop ballad, the track captures Cafuné’s sharpened edge as they grapple with an increasingly artificial world. The song echoes themes of disconnection and digital overload, painting a portrait of a society addicted to validation and drowning in its own feeds.

The single’s visual counterpart, directed by Akram Shah, inhabits the space “between the flesh and the digital ether,” expanding the track’s sense of unease and fragmentation. The video introduces the surreal, liminal world that Bite Reality is set to explore in full.

Cafuné shares:

“Every time you doom-scroll, you’re letting your phone choke you out. Wake up, check the feed, feel bad about yourself – rinse and repeat. Even the ‘good stuff’ on the Internet doesn’t feel fun or sustainable anymore. The world has never seemed more connected and further apart at the same time, stuck in a cycle of ‘e-Asphyxiation.’ Why do I have to prove that I am alive online?”

Bite Reality marks a striking shift for Cafuné, embracing confrontation over escapism. The album follows their breakout debut Running and reflects a deeper reckoning with artificiality, intimacy, and truth in the digital age.

In support of the album, Cafuné will launch their biggest North American tour. The Alive Online tour begins September 19 in Washington, DC, and wraps October 22 in Brooklyn, NY, with support from crushed. Tickets go on sale June 6.
