Brutus VIII, the solo project of Jackson Katz, has returned with ‘My Eating Disorder,’ a brutal and vulnerable new single that marks the announcement of his forthcoming EP Do It For the Money, out July 11 via American Death.

Known for his visceral live performances and emotionally raw songwriting, Katz leans deeper into his subconscious on this latest release, blending personal trauma with an abrasive sonic palette. ‘My Eating Disorder’ pairs Katz’s intense vocal delivery with industrial-influenced EBM production, creating a track that’s both confrontational and danceable. It serves as a preview of the thematic weight behind Do It For the Money, which promises to tackle topics ranging from neo-Nazism to suicidal ideation, all delivered in a style Katz calls “a sort of Randy Newman on amphetamines.”

Katz states:

“‘My Eating Disorder’ is a song exploring my (our) self-hatred and body image issues. I have dealt with some version of an eating disorder for as long as I can remember. I liked the idea of the narrator looking at the perfect body as the “new world” comparing the ideal self-love as “the americas”. I also think these sorts of body image problems are more common among men than what is typically discussed culturally.”

Following last year’s Pure Gluttony, Katz continues to carve out a singular space in New York’s underground scene—equal parts chaotic, theatrical, and deeply confessional. Do It For the Money promises to build on that legacy when it arrives this summer.
