Bottlerockets trace heartbreak and healing on ‘Kintsugi’

Meanjin-based alt-rock band Bottlerockets returns with ‘Kintsugi,’ a raw and reflective single out now via Corella Recordings.
Drawing its name from the Japanese art of mending broken pottery with gold, ‘Kintsugi’ serves as a metaphor for emotional healing in the aftermath of a breakup. Bottlerockets capture the slow, fragile beauty of piecing oneself back together after love has unraveled. The band’s textured sound—built around moody guitar work, atmospheric keys, and a grounded rhythm section—supports the emotional depth of the track without overshadowing it.
Lead vocalist Tom Fitzgerald shares:
“I wrote this song for a school assignment four years ago. I had a bad breakup the year before. It was a long drawn out thing, and I don’t exactly feel golden about it even now. I wasn’t over it, but I was moving on, and this song is proof.”
‘Kintsugi’ is out now.
