Billy Nomates has shared ‘Plans,’ the second single from her upcoming third LP Metalhorse, out May 16th via Invada Records.
‘Plans’ is an explosively simple rock track that finds the Bristol-based artist—real name Tor Maries—channeling love and defiance equally. The song’s freewheeling energy is rooted in both its emotional weight and its sonic clarity, combining Billy Nomates’ tenacity with a sense of Springsteen-esque liberation.
Nomates shares:
“As I get older, and I’ve just had this diagnosis, and the world’s a fucking mess, the idea of being able to have fun or fall in love with someone is the ultimate rebellion, isn’t it? It just feels totally radical these days. And it seems to happen less as life gets more complicated. Things are only going to get worse, there’s no point being blue sky about it, but there’s also fun to be found in this two-minute whizz around that we all have.”
Metalhorse marks Billy Nomates’ first full studio album with a live band and includes contributions from bassist Mandy Clarke and drummer Liam Chapman. It follows 2023’s CACTI and her 2020 self-titled debut.
Alongside the release, Billy Nomates has announced a string of UK and European live dates, including in-store shows this May and a full tour in September, with stops across the UK, France, Germany, and beyond.
‘Plans’ is available to stream now. Metalhorse is out May 16th.
