Apple TV+ announces a new K-pop song battle series starring PSY and Megan Thee Stallion. “KPOPPED” features Western artists reimagining their greatest hits, collaborating with K-pop idols to deliver spectacular battle performances.

“East meets West” as stars face off in collaborative song battles in this new series from legendary executive producer Lionel Richie and Miky Lee. “KPOPPED” is an eight-episode song battle series starring global K-pop sensation PSY (“Gangnam Style”) and superstar and executive producer Megan Thee Stallion.

Each episode sees western icons reimagining one of their biggest hits, collaborating with K-pop idols to create dazzling battle performances. A live Seoul-based audience picks the winner of the best new “K-popped” song.

In addition to Richie, Lee, and Megan, the series is executive produced by Moira Ross and Greg Foster, alongside Harry H.K. Shin and Jake Hong, with producer Ki-woong for CJ ENM. Chris Culvenor, Paul Franklin, Wes Dening, and David Tibballs executive produce for Eureka Productions (a Fremantle company), alongside Bruce Eskowitz.

The series is Apple’s second delve into the unscripted competition show space, following its country music series, “My Kind of Country,” in 2023. Created by Reese Witherspoon and Kacey Musgraves, the show was hosted by Mickey Guyton, Jimmie Allen, and Orville Peck.

Apple TV also made another foray into the K-pop space with docuseries “K-Pop Idols” last year. The six-part series followed the lives of K-pop stars Blackswan, Cravity, and Jessi.

Although the release date for “KPOPPED” has yet to be announced, Megan Thee Stallion is about to have a busy weekend. She’s performing at the invite-only FanDuel/Spotify Super Bowl party on Friday, February 6, alongside DJ Pee .Wee (Anderson .Paak), and Blink-182. The event precedes Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show during the big game on Sunday.
