South African-born, Berlin-forged singer-songwriter Alice Phoebe Lou unveils ‘You and I,’ her first-ever self-produced single — a stripped-back, love-drenched meditation that’s as intimate as it is revealing.
‘You and I’ arrives as a stirring confession wrapped in acoustic vulnerability, a sonic return to Lou’s roots as a street performer. The tender track features softly strummed guitar, ethereal keys, and Lou’s unmistakable voice, offering a deep dive into longing, surrender, and emotional transparency. With minimal adornment, the song casts a gentle but poignant spell, capturing the feeling of standing exposed in front of someone you love and daring to ask them to meet you there.
She shares:
“‘You and I’ speaks of longing and surrendering in love, it’s a confession and a prayer, a declaration that this is where we are and want to be and let’s stop holding back and dive deeper into everything together. It asks the other to let go of what has happened before and to be here now and dream up the future together. It’s about telling one another what our needs are so we can be there for each other in a deeper, more fundamental way.”
The single also marks a new chapter for Lou as she partners with Nettwerk Music Group for the release of her upcoming album. The collaboration will help her continue her DIY approach while expanding her global reach.
