50 Cent has acquired a 985,000 square-foot studio space for what will become G-Unit Studios.
The rapper shared a short Instagram video of the empty space that he hopes to transform. “Well, would you look at here,” the rapper begins as he pans his camera around the cavernous empty space. “Can you say G-G-G-G-G-Unit Studios?” he asks, simulating an echo in the massive building. “GLG. GreenLightGang G-Unit Film & TV. Boom. I need room to work. I don’t miss [TV] will never be the same.”
50 Cent moved to Texas in 2021 and it’s unclear if the property is located there or in another state. Several of the rapper’s peers congratulated him on the acquisition, with DaBaby giving him a thumbs up emoji and responding “still studying.” 50 Cent is focusing on his future television and film projects following his split with Starz earlier this year.
The producer signed a non-exclusive multi-year broadcast deal with Fox. In that capacity, he will develop scripted dramas, comedies, and animated series for the Fox network. 50 Cent left Starz in September 2022, which co-produced his Power franchise.
“Whether it’s music, film, or television, Curtis always delivers premium entertainment that captivates millions of fans across the globe,” added Michael Thorn, President of Scripted Programming at Fox Entertainment when the deal was announced. “He is a rare multi-hyphenate with a deft hand at storytelling, no matter the format or medium, and we’re looking forward to developing new and exciting series for Fox with him and his team.”
“I am excited to formalize a partnership with Michael Thorn and FOX that will allow G-Unit Film & Television to focus on putting multiple series on Fox, a perfect broadcast destination for [our] content while our premium, streaming, scripted, and non-scripted slates continue to grow in all directions,” 50 Cent added about his deal with Fox. G-Unit Film & Television was founded in 2005 and has produced a wide variety of content across a number of platforms.
