Taylor Swift announced her new album, The Tortured Poets Department, during the 2024 Grammy Awards. The record is due out April 19th, and you can see the cover artwork below.
Swift revealed the news while accepting the award for Best Pop Vocal Album for her 2022 LP Midnights. The win marked her 13th all-time Grammy, and as any good Swiftie knows, 13 is her lucky number, making it the perfect time to announce her next record.
“I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I’ve been keeping from you for the last two years,” Swift said from the Grammys stage, “which is that my brand new album comes out April 19th. It’s called The Tortured Poets Department. I’m going to go and post the cover right now backstage. Thank you, I love you!” Video of the announcement can be seen below.
According to pre-orders available on her website, the record will span 16 tracks, with the CD, vinyl, and cassette versions coming with a bonus track called “The Manuscript.” The vinyl edition also comes with a 24-page book-bound jacket that includes three handwritten lyrics and never-before-seen photos. It will be pressed on double “Ghosted White” vinyl.
Meanwhile, the Collector’s Edition Deluxe CD will only be available for order until February 7th at 9:00 p.m. ET. The package includes a single disc with collectible disc art, a 20-page booklet with all the lyrics and never-before-seen photos, a “The Manuscript” patch, a brass-toned bookmark with “TTPD” engraved on one side and “The Manuscript” on the other, a “The Manuscript” magnet, and four collectible photo cards.
Immediately after leaving the Grammys stage, Swift’s social media accounts were updated with the album art and a handwritten note on TTPD stationary. See both below.
