Taylor Swift announced the release date for the next version of her re-recorded album, Speak Now. Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) will release on July 7.
Swift made the announcement on stage during her Eras Tour stop in Nashville. She also announced that this version of the album will feature six previously unreleased tracks from that era of her life.
“I first made Speak Now, completely self-written, between the ages of 18 and 20,” the singer writes about the new album. “The songs that came from this time in my life were marked by their brutal honesty, unfiltered diaristic confessions and wild wistfulness. I love this album because it tells a tale of growing up, flailing, flying, and crashing… and living to speak about it.”
Speak Now originally released in 2010 and was Taylor Swift’s third album. The album sold more than one million copies within its first week of sales, setting a then-record for highest sales by a female country artist. Swift also received several Grammy nominations including Best Country Album, and a win for Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song for “Mean.”
Taylor Swift is currently in the process of re-recording all of her albums released prior to Lover in 2019. The move came after Scooter Braun purchased her catalog without her involvement. Fearless (Taylor’s Version) was the first of her re-recording album efforts, debuting after two new albums Folklore and Evermore. Now she’s currently engaged in a multi-album spanning tour celebrating those works with her Eras tour.
Ticketmaster’s handling of the Taylor Swift ticket sales for Eras prompted some of the concern in Congress for how Live Nation and Ticketmaster are handling ticketing. The monopoly of ticketing for major stadium tours has led a series of Swifties to pursue legal action against the company. A separate Senate subcommittee hearing is also seeking to address business practices of Ticketmaster and its parent company, Live nation.
