Get ready to take yourself dancing — Miley Cyrus stopped by the 2024 Grammy Awards to perform a rendition of her hit single, “Flowers,” which won the award for Best Pop Solo Performance, marking Cyrus’ very first Grammy win.
After accepting the award — and making several jokes about how excited she was to see its presenter, Mariah Carey — Cyrus was swept off stage. Returning later in the night, she brought “Flowers” to life, taking the stage solo to sing the song with a celebratory touch, even augmenting the lyrics at one point to celebrate the win. At the end of the song, she riffed on the “I can love me better baby” line, and then triumphantly threw down the mic stand. Everyone from Taylor Swift to Terry Crews to Oprah seemed to be having a great time. Watch a clip of the performance below.
In addition to winning for Best Pop Solo Performance, “Flowers” earned Cyrus a Grammy for Record of the Year. She was also nominated for several more awards, including Song of the Year for “Flowers,” and Album of the Year for Endless Summer Vacation, the album the song hails from. In the past, Cyrus had received eight Grammy nominations, but has never gotten to take home the gramophone herself until tonight.
“Flowers” debuted in January 2023 as the first single from Endless Summer Vacation, which arrived itself on March 10th, 2023. In the time since then, Cyrus appeared in the second season of Hormone Monsters, collaborated with Dolly Parton, released a few more singles (including “Used to Be Young,” which has since been added to the digital tracklist of Endless Summer Vacation), and more. Up next, she’s set to appear on the Talking Heads tribute album, Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense.
