Tetrarch have announced their third album, The Ugly Side of Me, arriving May 9th via Napalm Records. The video for single “Never Again (Parasite)” can be streamed now.
The nu-metal revivalists approach the genre without a hint of irony, serving up a surging melancholic rocker with the new song. There’s some excellent dual vocal work from Josh Fore and lead guitarist Diamond Rowe (her first major vocal part in a Tetrarch song), and the clean, atmospheric production showcases the band’s excellent instrumental chops.
“‘Never Again (Parasite)’ was such a fun song for us to write,” the band stated in a press release. “It’s very moody and dark but lyrically extremely easy for anyone to relate to. It’s basically about losing trust in so many of the situations and people around you – while at the same time, isolating and losing a sense of self. It also kind of has a vibe of taking back what’s yours and saying ‘this won’t happen to me ever again’. I suppose you can look at it either way.”
The band added, “This is also the first time we have featured Diamond on vocals in a capacity other than just background textures and we are super stoked for everyone to hear her voice in this way.”
The band’s first album since 2021, The Ugly Side of Me was co-produced by Dave Otero, Rowe, and Fore. The 10-song tracklist includes the previously released lead single “Live Not Fantasize,” a Heavy Song of the Week honorable mention last September.
