Nova Twins — the dynamic UK duo comprised of Amy Love and Georgia South — have returned with an anthemic new single titled “Monsters.”
As of now, “Monsters” is a stand-alone single, with a press release touting the song as the start of a “bold new chapter” for the band. The duo earned high praise for their 2022 album, Supernova, including here at Consequence, where they were named our 2022 Rookie of the Year.
“’Monsters’ is about awakening to and understanding your mental health,” stated Nova Twins. “Growing up, we often look outward, absorbing what life throws at us. Over time, the good and bad experiences start to settle. Before learning to navigate these feelings, you may face self-loathing, anxiety and a fear of who you’ve become.”
The band continued, “Confronting these emotions, breathing through them, and opening up to someone can help. Many people struggle with mental health, and this song aims to show vulnerability and let our audience know they’re not alone.”
Musically, the song is a heavy dance-rocker with a powerful sing-along chorus: “I’m not afraid of monsters/ But I’m afraid of myself/ Stuck in an illusion/ Crying for help.” The track was produced by Rich Costey, who has worked with Foo Fighters and Deftones, among other acts.
Nova Twins will play the Marshall x NAAM Wildfire Benefit in Anaheim, California, this Thursday (January 23rd). After that, they have a number of UK/European shows and festivals scheduled from late February through early August, including dates opening for Lenny Kravitz in March and April (pick up tickets here).
