Daryl Hall performs Hall & Oates songs amid John Oates lawsuit

Daryl Hall won’t let his legal issues stop him from playing his music for his fans.

The Hall & Oates rocker — who recently filed a lawsuit and was granted a temporary restraining order against band co-member John Oates — played a concert that was chock-full of the duo’s hit singles on Nov. 23.

Hall, 77, performed at the Tokyo Garden Theater in Japan, per Variety.

According to the outlet, he sang classics such as “Out of Touch,” “I Can’t Go for That (No Can Do)” and “Private Eyes.”

Earlier this month, Hall and his organization, the Daryl Hall Revocable Trust, filed a lawsuit against Oates, 75, and Oates’ trust, the John W. Oates TISA Trust and its co-trustees in Davidson County Chancery Court.

The suit was filed in Nashville, Tennessee, on Nov. 16. While the legal documents are sealed, they are labeled as relating to a “contract/debt” suit.

On Nov. 23, TMZ reported that the legal battle pertains to “the ground rules of who can sing what as a solo artist, along with money issues of course.”

Oates, for his part, performed several of the band’s joint songs at solo shows earlier this month.

Oates and Hall haven’t appeared to be on the same page for quite some time. Last year, Hall revealed that the pair would no longer be making music together.

“I don’t have any plans to work with John. I mean, whatever. Time will tell,” he explained to the Los Angeles Times. While they had been recording together “before the pandemic,” he noted that “perceptions changed.”

“Life changed, everything changed,” Hall continued. “I’m more interested in pursuing my own world. And so is John.”

“That takes me back to what I was saying about duos. I had to say, ‘And so is John.’ I couldn’t just say what I think, I had to add what he thinks. That’s the f – – ked-up part of being a duo.”

Surprisingly, Oates divulged that he and Hall had little tension during their decades-long partnership during a 2021 interview with GQ.

“Y’know, [there have been] way more ups than downs, to be honest with you,” he dished at the time. “It’s actually a miracle, I’m actually shocked that we are able to still play together and it’s great. It’s something that you have to really appreciate, because like you said, it’s not easy.”

Ahead of their sold-out show at NYC’s Madison Square Garden in 2020, they even told The Post’s Chuck Arnold that they “never fight.” However, they did conduct the interviews separately.

“We’ve never had a real fight since we’ve known each other — and that’s since we were kids, teenagers,” Hall said. “We just know to deal with each other. That’s why we’re still together.”

Oates added in his own interview, “The fact that Daryl and I are still friends, that he and I still get along — it’s a miracle. But we do.”
