Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” renaissance continues with the news that the song will soon be reissued as a CD single.
As Super Deluxe Edition points out, the upcoming release marks the first time “Running Up That Hill,” originally released in 1985, has been burned onto a commercial CD single. The Hounds of Love track comes with its original B-side, “Under the Ivy,” and is slated to be released on September 2nd. Pre-orders are available now via Rhino.
“Running Up That Hill” has enjoyed a massive resurgence since it was featured on Season 4 of Stranger Things. The song hit No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 over 30 years after its release, and shot up all the way to No. 1 in Bush’s native UK. The ballad’s newfound success was even enough to get the reclusive Bush to give an interview, where she exclaimed, “The whole world’s gone mad!” In light of its second life, Spotify named “Running Up That Hill” (and Harry Styles’ “As It Was”) the Song of Summer 2022.
