Lil Baby didn’t grow up wanting to be a rapper, but fate had other plans for him. Coming soon to Amazon Prime Video, Untrapped: The Story of Lil Baby illustrates in vivid detail how he went from the streets of Atlanta to the global stage.
The first trailer for the upcoming documentary, which you can watch above, features the rise of Baby as told through archival footage, some of his close rap peers and business partners, and the 27-year-old himself. Some of the voices heard in the video are Drake, Young Thug, and Pierre “P” Thomas. Untrapped was also produced by P, Baby, Kevin “Coach K” Lee, Karam Gill, Daniel Malikyar, Andrew Primavera, and Blase Biello.
Speaking on the importance of the doc, Baby explained that he wanted to share his life story to inspire others to chase their dreams.
“If even one person is inspired to think their life can change, or be close to what they dream of, then this documentary was worth making,” the rapper said. “I just want to share my story in the hope that it helps others get to their own best story.”
Director Karam Gill mirrored these sentiments, saying he hopes Baby’s story reveals more about this country and the hurdles many people face.
“Lil Baby is an artist who truly evolved and grew to become one of today’s most important voices for change,” Gill shared. “I hope his journey sheds light on the larger socioeconomic issues our country is facing and leaves viewers feeling inspired.”
Untrapped: The Story of Lil Baby will hit Amazon Prime Video on Aug. 26. Watch the first trailer up top.
