Drake has announced plans for October World Weekend’s three-day festival, kicking off on July 28.
The official line-up for the event includes All Canadian North Stars for July 28, Lil Baby and Chris Brown for July 29, and a Young Money reunion featuring Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj on August 1. The rapper says he’s working on bringing OVO Fest global for the 2023 anniversary, “but of course we wanted to turn the city up for the summer!”
Drake first hinted at the three-day festival on an online gambling site’s live stream. “Big announcement coming Wednesday for the city,” he said, referring to his hometown of Toronto. “Appreciate everyone listening to the new album, embracing something that I wanted to do for a long time. I appreciate all the love.”
He continues: “Means a lot to me that it’s been this many years, people still tuning in. Being open, showing a lot of love to different shit. I’m back going crazy though. I’m just letting you know right now, I’m in a different bag right now. I promise you. Scary.”
Tickets for October World Weekend will go on sale via Ticketmaster on July 15 at 10 am. The festival will take place at various venues across Toronto from July 28 – August 1. The three day-event hosts some of the biggest stars and friends of Drake.
October World Weekend 2022 – Lineup
- All Canadian North Stars @ History – July 28
- Lil Baby, Chris Brown @ Budweiser Stage – July 29
- Young Money Reunion @ Budweiser Stage – August 1
Fans are excited about the show because Drake has promised a Young Money World Tour for years now. While this isn’t quite the same thing, it should have fans excited to see the show. “Young Money linking up is the best duo, the big three haven’t been together in years,” one fan tweeted after Drake’s Instagram post. This teaser for OVO Fest may be just a teaser for something bigger later this year.
The last OVO Fest was in August 2019, as the festival was paused during the pandemic. Rap fans from all over the world have eagerly been awaiting the next installment of Drake’s live show in Toronto – maybe globally this year.
