Carpenter has amazing skin, and she makes sure to take care of it. She shared some of her tips in an interview with Glamour. “The most important thing about skin care, for me, has always been to listen to my skin,” Carpenter said. “Because it changes. Every season’s a little different and every year of my life is a little different. Sometimes it requires a lot and more is more, and then other times less is more. It’s really just about listening to your body and giving it what it needs.”

Carpenter tells Marie Claire that she likes to keep her skincare routine pretty simple. “I usually just use an oil-based cleanser to wipe [makeup] off, and then moisturize and go to sleep. I’ve actually been better in the last few years about minimizing my routine a little bit, so that I don’t have as many products, because when I’m on the road, it’s hard to travel with so much. I’ve tried to consolidate down to a few products. [The moisturizer I use] changes a lot. My friends will just be like, ‘Here, you can use my moisturizer for the night,’ and I just take it. [Laughs.] But the Chanel moisturizer I’ve been using recently has been really nice.”

Carpenter shared some of her favorite products, including her favorite cleanser, with Glamour. “I’ve been working with [esthetician] Renée Rouleau since I was 15. I use her AHA/BHA cleanser, which has been a steady thing in my life. I like that it’s somewhat of an exfoliant but not really harsh, and AHA/BHA is really good for keeping your skin clear.”

Carpenter tells Glamour that she makes sure her skin is protected from the sun. “Sunscreen is super important to me. I wear sunscreen every single day. I started using Supergoop’s Glow Screen because I would find my face is always a little bit paler than the rest of my body, so it kind of is the best of both worlds: Obviously it’s SPF, but then it also gives you just a little bit of color that brings your skin to life. It’s under my makeup most of the time and it’s really nice. I really like how it looks.”

Carpenter shared her approach to fitness with Marie Claire. “I’m a little [casual] with exercise. It’s not an everyday thing by any means, but I try to balance it out however I can, and at least once or twice a week do something a little bit more disciplined. I will take a class of some sort, or do a workout at home. I’ll go to Pilates sometimes with friends of mine. I love working out with friends, because it makes me feel like I’m not working out.
